Why Does Outdoor Furniture Cost So Much...?

Why does outdoor furniture cost so much…?

  • The simple answer, it must be made to withstand life outside which means a fundamentally higher cost of Materials & Labor – ESPECIALLY IN TEXAS.
    • Indoor furniture uses plywood or softwood frames for structure in most cases and is designed to a much lower standard of durability.
    • Outdoor furniture frames are made from aluminum in most cases which costs 10x more than wood and requires welding, sanding and a powder coated finish to complete just the frame.
    • Outdoor cushions similarly are made from much higher grade materials than ‘most’ indoor furniture.
    • In the case of Teak outdoor furniture, high quality teak furniture comes from trees that are at least 50yrs old or more in order to have the necessary grain density to withstand the outdoor elements. Furniture Grade Teak is one of the most expensive wood species as a result.
  • Imagine putting a piece of Indoor furniture Outside, even on a covered patio, how long before it would literally be falling apart?
  • While the upfront investment in high quality outdoor furniture can be significant, it really isn’t if you do some basic analysis of long-term costs.
    • When you buy Right, what you purchased will last a lifetime with simple maintenance.  Which is better than putting your money into a landfill every time you wear out inferior quality furniture.
